The Epic Playroom Project: From Pinterest Board to Real Life
When my client first came to me about creating a playroom for her two boys, she had no shortage of ideas. In fact, she had what many of us have at some point: a Pinterest board bursting with inspiration and about a thousand open browser tabs filled with epic playroom dreams. What she didn’t have? The time or bandwidth to pull it all together.
That’s where I stepped in. Together, we refined her vision, prioritized what mattered most for her family, and then I got to work drafting build plans, sourcing materials, and working hand-in-hand with the contractor to bring it all to life.
The result? A one-of-a-kind space that’s equal parts fun, functional, and totally unforgettable.
A Room Built for Adventure
This playroom has it all - and I truly mean all:
A built-in playhouse with a slide, windows, and a “secret” downstairs that doubles as an ice cream shop or dress-up room (depending on the day).
Climbing wall + foam pit for endless energy and big adventures.
Monkey bars, rope swing, and disc swing to challenge little muscles and burn off that extra wiggle.
A magnet wall and art table to fuel creativity and quiet play.
A reading nook with cozy textures and low-hung bookshelves to make storytime irresistible.
A Nugget sofa and plenty of open floor space for building forts, laying out train tracks, or just spreading out and being kids.
Why It Works
This isn’t just a “pretty” playroom (though it is easy on the eyes). It’s a personalized, carefully planned space that reflects how these boys really play - balancing movement and imagination with places to create, learn, and recharge. Every element was chosen with intention, and every detail works together to make the room endlessly adaptable as the boys grow.
The Best Part?
The kids love it. Right now, the downstairs of the playhouse is their very own ice cream shop - but tomorrow it might be a fort, a library, or a superhero hideout. That’s the magic of this project: it’s not just a playroom, it’s a canvas for imagination.
And for my client? Instead of feeling overwhelmed by inspiration overload, she gets to see her vision fully realized - and watch her boys enjoy it every single day.
